It is important to follow the aftercare advice provided to you by your injector to achieve the best possible results and avoid complications.
Aftercare for treatments at House of Define may vary slightly for each treatment.
However due to new TGA regulations aftercare for specific treatments cannot be stated.
The general advice below should be followed unless advised otherwise by your practioner.
After a treatment to it is important to avoid placing any pressure on the treatment area.
Placing pressure on the treatment area can potentially result in moving the product or exposing the area to bacteria.
Leave the treatment area alone.
Dont rub it! Don't massage it! Don't play with it!
Dont rest your hand on your face or fall asleep on your face!
For 4 hours post treatment
Exercise is not recommended in the 24 hours after a treatment.
Jumping up and down during your HIIT class, tight goggles from your swimming, pressure on your face from your bike helmet, or laying on your side during a stretch session can potentially move the newly injected product.
Increased sweating can also be problematic, as it can introduce bacteria to the area and/or cause you to touch the treatment area with unclean hands or gym towel.
Exercise also increases blood flow, blood pressure and body temperature, which can all exacerbate bruising, swelling and any discomfort.
Taking a walk is ok in the first 24 hours post treatment.
Heat increases the blood flow in the body which can all exacerbate bruising, swelling and any discomfort.
It is recommended to avoid the following activities for 24 hours after a treatment.
Whilst infection is NOT common after a treatment, it is important to follow aftercare instructions to avoid any potential risk.
During a treatment your skin barrier is pierced, resulting in small holes which can be portals for bacteria to enter.
The best way to avoid infection is to simply keep the area clean and leave the treatment area alone for 4 HOURS post-treatment. Avoid touching, rubbing, or massaging the area during this time, as the bacteria on your hands can be transferred easily.
It is also advised to avoid applying makeup to the treated area for 4 hours post-treatment. Please remember that applicators such as makeup sponges and brushes harbour bacteria -even if they have just been washed.
Please avoid pets licking your face for at least 24 hours post treatment.
If an area shows any sign of infection post treatment; such as the area feeling hot, red, or throbbing please contact your injector.
Volumising treatments are made from a molecule that binds to water naturally stored in the surrounding tissue.
To achieve the best possible results from your treatment, it is recommended that you stay well hydrated for the first 48 hours post treatment.
Being well hydrated can also help speed up recovery time post treatment, as being hydrated assists in the movement of oxygen and nutrients around the body, allowing those nutrients to get to the affected area.
Some treatments may cause swelling, tenderness, a headache, and/or flu like symptoms. These symptoms are temporary and will self-resolve.
Anti-inflammatory medications should be avoided as these can exacerbate any bruising or bleeding under the skin. If required, Paracetamol is the preferred pain relief option.
If paracetamol is not enough to ease any discomfort, or if the pain from a treatment is outside the expected parameters set by your injector for that particular treatment, it is important to contact your injector.
Ice can also be used to reduce any discomfort, if required.
Ice should not be applied directly to the skin. Ensure to use a clean cloth or paper towel between the ice pack and skin.
Ice the treated area with minimum pressure for a maximum of 10 minutes at a time to avoid disruption to the treatment.
If you have a skin care regime, it is recommended that you avoid ‘active’ skincare products in the 24 hours post-treatment.
Retinols, vitamin C, exfoliating acids, chemical peels etc. may irritate the treated area and increase sensitivity.
Using a gentle face wash, moisturiser and sunblock post treatment is recommended to keep your skin hydrated and irritation free.
