AFTER CARE INSTRUCTIONS

It is important to follow the aftercare advice provided to you by your injector to achieve the best possible results and avoid complications. Aftercare for treatments at House of Define may vary slightly. The general advice below should be followed unless stated by your practitioner. 

PDO THREADS

POST TREATMENT 

• Ensure to keep the insertion sites clean and covered with the provided steristrips for 48 HOURS. If you run out of or lose the steristrips provided to you at your appointment, they can be purchased from your local pharmacy.

• Avoid strenuous exercise, increasing heat within the skin or any activities that cause sweating. This includes gym, swimming, running etc. Light activity and walking is OK. FOR 24 HOURS *

* It is recommended to avoid rigorous exercise (Crossfit, weightlifting, mountain biking) for as long as 2 weeks post-treatment to avoid exaggerated movements in the treated area.

• Avoid wearing makeup or skincare products with active ingredients on the treated area FOR 48 HOURS. Gentle cleanser, moisturiser and SPF can be used. Ensure to use a clean washcloth, gentle application methods and avoid the insertion sites.

• Avoid touching or placing pressure on the injection area (e.g. leaning head on hand, massage, rubbing FOR 24 HOURS

• Avoid facials and skin treatments ie. microdermabrasion, laser, microneedling, peels, etc FOR 2 WEEKS 

• Avoid activities where the area might get contaminated (gardening, cleaning etc) FOR 48 HOURS

• For 48 hours post treatment you can apply a cold compress on the treated area if required. 

• Elevate the treated area when sleeping. Sleep on your back or use a travel pillow – do not sleep with pressure on your face for 2 WEEKS

• Drink plenty of fluids, avoid very hot drinks and alcohol for 48 HOURS

• It is recommended to eat soft foods and to avoid excess chewing for 48 HOURS

• Avoid dental work for 1 MONTH

• Avoid exaggerated facial movements and excessive opening of the mouth for 2 WEEKS

• Avoid using the swimming pool, sauna or steam room for 2 WEEKS

EXPECTED TEMPORARY SIDE EFFECTS: THREADS

It is completely normal to experience the below. Should you have any concerns, please contact our Team:

• Swelling, tenderness and slight discomfort of the treatment area

• Bruising at the injection sites

• Puckering of the skin in the treated area/s

• Tightness, pulling and /or "pinging" sensation for up to two weeks post treatment. 

• Paracetamol is the preferred pain relief option and it is advised to take this before and directly after your procedure, and every 4 hours thereafter (if required). 


WHAT IS NOT NORMAL OR EXPECTED 

• Skin that feels hot like a fire sensation

• Redness or pus at the insertion site
