Volumising education

What are volumising treatments?

Volumising treatments are commonly used in aesthetic medicine and may form part of a personalised treatment plan.

As we age, natural changes occur within the skin, fat, muscle and bone structures of the face. These changes may contribute to the appearance of facial volume loss, hollowness, shadowing and changes in facial shape.

Treatment recommendations vary between individuals and are based on factors such as facial anatomy, medical history, previous treatments and individual treatment goals.

Not all concerns are managed in the same way and not all patients are suitable for treatment.

How do volumising treatments work?

Volumising treatments are designed to add support, structure or volume to selected areas.

Treatment plans may be developed to address concerns such as volume loss, facial balance, contour or age-related changes.

Different treatment approaches may be used depending on the area being assessed and the outcome being discussed during consultation.

Treatment outcomes vary between individuals and are influenced by factors such as anatomy, treatment history and individual response.

When will I see results?

Initial changes may be visible immediately following treatment.

However, swelling may affect the appearance of the treated area during the early healing period.

Most swelling improves during the first few weeks following treatment, however final settling may take longer in some individuals.

Treatment outcomes should not be assessed immediately following treatment.

How long do results last?

Treatment longevity varies between individuals.

Factors such as metabolism, lifestyle, treatment area, product selection and previous treatment history may influence how long treatment effects remain noticeable.

Some people choose to maintain treatment at regular intervals as part of an ongoing treatment plan, whilst others may prefer less frequent treatment depending on their individual goals and preferences.

Treatment recommendations and treatment intervals vary between individuals.

Why can swelling affect the final result?

Swelling is a normal response following many injectable treatments.

Swelling does not always occur evenly and one side may settle differently from the other during the healing process.

For this reason, treatment outcomes should not be assessed immediately following treatment.

If a review appointment is recommended, your practitioner will advise you during your consultation.
