Photosensitising Medications & Conditions

MEDICAL CONDITIONS AND MEDICAL CLEARANCE

Some medical conditions, medications and circumstances may require medical clearance from your treating doctor or specialist before undertaking LED Light Therapy.


Examples may include:


• Pregnancy

• A history of epilepsy or seizures

• Active cancer or current cancer treatment

• Autoimmune conditions associated with photosensitivity

• Certain medications, supplements or skincare products that may increase sensitivity to light

• Recent cosmetic procedures or skin treatments

• Active skin infections, rashes or open wounds

• Significant eye conditions or light sensitivity



If you are unsure whether LED Light Therapy is suitable for you, please seek advice from your treating doctor or specialist before booking.

MEDICATIONS, SUPPLEMENTS AND SKINCARE PRODUCTS

Certain medications, supplements and skincare products may increase sensitivity to light.


Examples may include:


• Roaccutane (isotretinoin)

• Differin (adapalene)

• Prescription tretinoin products

• Retinol-containing skincare products

• Benzoyl peroxide products

• Duac

• St John’s Wort

• Ginkgo Biloba

• Melanotan or tanning injections

• Some cholesterol medications (statins)

• Certain antibiotics

• Certain cancer medications


This is not a complete list.

Please disclose all medications, supplements, skincare products and medical conditions when booking and completing your paperwork.

NOT SUITABLE FOR USE

 LED Light Therapy should not be used if you have:


• An active skin infection or open wound in the treatment area.

• Been advised by your treating doctor or specialist to avoid light-based therapies.
